Commander's Corner

Commander Tommie Boleyn

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We paused recently to remember the tragic attack on our country that occurred on 9/11/2001. I remember clearly where I was at that moment. I recall the impact that event has had on me every day of my life since then. Lives were forever altered that day in a split second. It's hard to believe 24 years have passed so quickly, but they have. Take a moment to reflect on the event and say a prayer for the victims, their families, and our Country.

As I said in my last post, the VFW here in Bedford County is on the move. We are growing, we are getting smarter, and we have become laser focused on improving the lives of our Veterans. Our standing committees are hard at work developing an annual budget, planning veteran outreach and fund raising efforts, growing our membership, and developing partnerships within our community.

If you are a member who has not participated in a monthly meeting in a while, come back and join us. We value your participation and we look forward to your ideas and input. We need you in our Post, and you need us.....you just haven't realized it yet. We gained 4 brand new members recently, they are young and eager to serve again. Come join us and them. Likewise, our Post Auxiliary is doing great things and they are rapidly growing as well. They have added 11 new and prospective members in just the last month. Come check them out as well.

Our next meeting will be held 6 October at 6 pm at the post. Bring a covered side dish, meat will be provided by Rowdy Ranch.

Give me a call or send me an email if you have any questions and thanks for all you are doing.

Tommie Boleyn
